Since the inception of the Bravery Bead program at SickKids, more than one million patients have earned more than one million beads. As its SickKids VS Limits campaign approaches another historic milestone of one million donors, SickKids Foundation today launched the next phase of its campaign which will celebrate the strength of patients past and present by building a Monument to the Brave.
SickKids is calling on patients to donate their Bravery Beads to be part of the monument paying tribute to their experience. Bereaved parents and siblings are also welcome to participate in honour of their loved one. Patients and family members can learn more about the Monument to the Brave and how to donate their Bravery Beads by visiting DonateYourBravery.ca.
From October to December, five giant 10-foot Bravery Beads will appear throughout the city of Toronto as part of the rallying cry to patients and potential donors to be a part of this historic moment for SickKids. The first giant bead, earned by patients for completing their course of treatment, was unveiled on October 1st at CF Toronto Eaton Centre where it will remain until November 10.
